Westbound block time runs about 9 hours from MAD; Air Canada's eastbound return is around 7 hours 40 minutes thanks to favourable winds.

The A321XLR is unusual on a 6,400 km transatlantic — it offers Business Class with 14 lie-flat seats but only 165 economy seats total, giving the route a curated, almost premium-leisure feel. For travellers used to packed 787s on Iberia's other US routes, this is the calm alternative.

For Spanish speakers heading to Canada: Toronto is the largest English-speaking Canadian city by far. Pearson's UP Express train connects to Union Station downtown in 25 minutes (CA$12.35); from there the TTC subway reaches anywhere in central Toronto in under 30 minutes.
