Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Flyney ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal data when you use flyney.com and its related services (the "Service"). It is issued in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, "GDPR") and the Italian Personal Data Protection Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003, as amended by Legislative Decree 101/2018).

Flyney is operated as a personal/learning project. By using the Service you acknowledge the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Data controller

The data controller is the operator of Flyney. You can reach us by email at privacy@flyney.com for any privacy-related request.

Categories of personal data we process

Account data: your email address, used to send the magic-link to sign in.

Flight log data: flight numbers, dates, airports, aircraft and free-text notes you add to your personal flight diary.

Approximate location: only if you explicitly grant permission in the Planner, to estimate when to leave home. The coordinates are sent to the routing/transport provider for that single request and are not stored.

Technical data: IP address, browser, language, device type, pages visited and timestamps, collected through server and platform logs for security and troubleshooting.

Communications: any message you send us by email.

Purposes and legal bases

Providing the Service (sign-in, flight planner, search, disruption rules, flight log), performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Transactional emails (welcome, flight log confirmation, future disruption alerts), performance of the contract.

Security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting and abuse detection, legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Analytics and conversion tracking of affiliate links (Travelpayouts), your consent through the cookie banner (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR + Art. 122 Italian Privacy Code).

Compliance with legal obligations, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.

Categories of third-party processors

We rely on external providers acting as data processors under Art. 28 GDPR. We disclose categories rather than commercial names; the up-to-date list of identifiable processors is available on request at privacy@flyney.com.

Authentication, database and storage provider.

Application hosting and edge delivery provider.

Transactional email delivery provider.

Flight schedule and status data providers.

Weather data provider for airports.

Mapping, geocoding and route/ETA provider.

Affiliate conversion tracking provider for booking links.

International data transfers

Some processors are based outside the European Economic Area. Transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and, where applicable, by additional safeguards. You can request a copy of the safeguards at privacy@flyney.com.

Retention

Account and flight log data are kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, related personal data are deleted or anonymized within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Server and security logs are kept for up to 12 months.

Analytics and affiliate-tracking cookies follow the durations declared in the Cookie Policy.

Your rights

Under Articles 15–22 GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw any consent you have given.

To exercise these rights write to privacy@flyney.com. We will reply within 30 days.

If you believe the processing infringes data protection law you may lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, www.garanteprivacy.it) or with the supervisory authority of your habitual residence.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you become aware that a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

Automated decision-making

We do not perform any automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects on you. The compensation estimator under EU261/UK261 is an informational tool, it does not adjudicate your claim.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page and, where appropriate, communicated by email. The date of the last update is shown at the top.
